Beef Samosas
This is something that I loved to eat growing up. These are crispy on the outside, baked until golden, and filled with a perfectly spiced beef filling. They are a great snack, and are baked instead of fried, so they are healthier for you. Pair them with a peach or mango chutney, or a mint yoghurt dipping sauce.
Ingredients:
1 large red onion
3 garlic cloves
2 tbsp olive oil
500g ground beef
1 tsp each coriander, cumin, dried methi leaves
1.5 tsp meat spice
1.5 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp peach chutney
Salt and pepper to taste
Samosa wrappers
Method:
Finely chop the onion and garlic, then add them to a large pan with the olive oil and bring to a medium heat. Fry until golden.
Add the ground beef along with the coriander, cumin, dried methi leaves, meat spice, garam masala, chilli flakes, turmeric, and paprika. Cook until the meat is browned.
Add the peas, peach chutney, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow to cook for 15-20 minutes.
Thaw your samosa wrappers and place a damp towel on top of them so that they donβt dry out while you are folding the samosas.
Take a wrapper and fold one corner to the opposite corner to make a triangle. With the flat side facing up, take the right corner and fold it towards the middle to make a pocket.
Add some beef filling to the pocket then keep folding until you have a triangle. Squeeze the edges shut. Continue until all of the beef filling and samosa wrappers are used up.
Lay the samosas onto a lined baking tray. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
Once all of your samosas are made, brush them with olive oil, then bake them for 30 minutes or until golden brown on the outside.
Serve them with a chutney or mint yoghurt dipping sauce. Enjoy!
